The Bible
New City Church Message MZ-NCC
-
Why is the Bible important?
- 67% of all kids will leave the faith by the time they leave college
- Only 19% of Christians are engaged Bible readers (>4 times per week)
- We as a church body are not building and passing on our faith
-
FAITH!
-
What is faith?
Hebrews 11:1 — Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
-
Why is it important?
Hebrews 11:6 — But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
-
How do you get it?
Romans 10:17 — So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
- One of the reasons why the Bible (The WORD of GOD) is IMPORTANT
You need the Word of God to build faith and you need faith to please God and to know that HE IS.
-
Why do we believe the Bible?
- The bible contains 66 books (39 in the Old Testament; 27 in the New Testament)
- Authorized by God
- Ghostwritten through more than 40 people over 2,000 years
- Yet it is a single message system
- One consistent story
- It uses the same idioms throughout, the same figures of speech
- Authenticates itself by writing history in advance with precision
- God writes it in advance because He is outside the dimension of time
-
Is it really God's message?
- The main focal point of this single message system is a Person
- History itself is cataloged around His appearance
- Our Redeemer
- Our King
- Our Messiah
- Our Savior
- JESUS...He is on every page of the Bible
