I PETER
Chapter 5
Duties of the Elders & Youth, to God, and Regarding Satan
Elders Duties as Shepherd
-
1.↓ THE elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the
sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
-
-
Notes
-
° Are you going to be a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed?
MF-NCC
Romans 8:18 — For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Romans 8:19 — For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
° This glory eternal, not temporal
MF-NCC
Daniel 12:3 — And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
-
2.↓ Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof,
not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a read mind.
-
-
Notes
-
° If you are in ministry, you are to feed God's people willingly, and not by forceful convincing
° The motivation behind it should not be for selfish gain either
MF-NCC
-
3.↓ Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the
flock.
-
-
Notes
-
° This was the problem with the Nicolatians
MF-NCC
Deeds:
Revelation 2:6 — But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
Doctrinal:
Revelation 2:15 — So hath thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
° Notice these are God's people, it is His church not ours; His org chart is an upside down pyramid

-

Younger Duties as the Flock
-
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one
to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
-
Duties to God
-
6. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
-
Greek

-

-
Notes
Duties Regarding Satan
-
8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may
devour:
-
-
9. Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your
brethren that are in the world.

glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect,
stablish, strengthen, settle you.

-
