Numbers
How Unbelief
Prevents God's Promises
Notes
-
° The first census contained all of those that came out of Egypt with Moses.
Unfortunately, at the next census all those names had vanished except two:
Joshua and Calab
° Thirty-eight years has elasped since the first census at Sinai.
° Now Israel is on the borders of the Promise Land after 40 years in the
wilderness and a second census is taken.
° When the second census was complete, the number of men elgible to fight was
nearly the same as when the first census was taken.
1st Census — 603,500 fighting men
2nd Census — 601,730 fighting men
° In Egypt, the family of Jacob increased at an incredible rate. Even during
their captivity as slaves. In the Wilderness, Israel did not grow.
° Israel's murmuring and unbelief had prevented Israel from growing during the
40 years of wandering
° Israel had spent 40 years on a journey that should have only taken 40 days
° The Book of Numbers provides a lesson on how unbelief can prevent the promises of God and to enter into God's call. It also shows how to overcome the attempts to keep you from your calling, and that we should go and occupy.
