night season, and am not silent.

-
6.↓ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and
despised of the people.
-
Hebrew
- וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא־אִישׁ חֶרְפַּת אָדָם וּבְזוּי עָם׃
-
Notes
-
° תּוֹלָע (to-law') — worm, crimson, & scarlet
° One paraticular type of worm in Israel was used to make scarlet dye
° Kermes Vermilio; Scarlet dye is made from the dried body of the female
° Pierced the thin bark of twigs to use the sap to prepare a waxy scale
° The scale would protect its body, the red dye is in the scale (so after piercing, red dye was made)
° A crimson spot is left on the brance, when the scarlet spot dries out in three day, it changes to white as it flakes off the branch

Isaiah 1:18 — Come now, let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, the shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
