JUDE
Contending for the Faith
Notes
-
° This book contains so many deep references, we must rely on The Holy Spirit to teach us everything out of God's Word!
I John 2:27 — But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth,
and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
I John 2:28 — And now, little children, abide in him, that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
° The Holy Spirit will illuminate the deeper things of this incredible short book which acts as a prelude to the book of Revelation
° Jude is written by one of the four half-brothers of Jesus Christ
° This book in the New Testament is neglected by many that study the bible (only second to the book of Revelation)
° Yet it contains incredible insights into the Old Testament including:
- Deep lessons from Israel in the wilderness
- Discussions of the fallen rebellious angels that sinned
- Sodom and Gomorroh highlights
- Lessons from Cain and Balaam
- the oldest prophecy (spoken by a human) recorded in the Bible, uttered by Enoch himself
- The war between Michael and Satan over the body of Moses
° Jude has some parallels to the book of James
° James discusses how faith, which is built upon the word of God, is identified with your good works (not necessarily salvation, but FAITH)
Romans 10:17 — So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
° Judes discusses how apostasy is identified with evil works, people who have turned away from The Lord
° Jude is an amazing introduction to the book of Revelation
° The church age opens with the Acts of the Apostles
° The church age cloes with the Actso of the Apostates (the church of Laodicea)
