REVELATION
The Unveiling of Jesus Christ
Notes
-
INTRODUCTION:
-
° Revelation is probably the most avoided book in the Bible
° Revelation culminates all things in the Bible, it's literally the unveiling of Jesus Christ
° This book is really to answer the question, Who really is Jesus?
° It's the unveiling of Jesus, our Savior, our Redeemer, our King
° It is a book in which, if it's studied properly, will take you into every other book of the Bible
° It's everything we have to look forward to in Jesus
° This entire book is about redemption
° in the 404 verses of this book, there are over 800 allusions to the Old Testament
° Why it's so foreign to one's ears a lot of times when we open it to read it, because one doesn't study the Old Testament properly
° One of the reasons why it can be difficult book to read, because it references back to every other book of the Bible
° And here in this book, everything that's promised in the Old Testament is fulfilled
° The word revelation in the Greek, literally is apocalypsis, and it is from two different root, and it leterally means an uncovering or an unveiling of.
° Otherwise, it means letting you see someting for what it is or letting you see a disclosure of knowledge of something
° The Book of Revelation is literally the unveiling of Jesus Christ. Who is he really? MF-NCC
Revelation 1:1 — THE Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass, and he sent and signified it
by his angel unto his servant John:
Revelation 1:2 — Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
° Look at who gave this to Jesus
° This is a gift, almost like a personal gift from the father to the son
° Look in the opening verse, the revelation of Jesus Christ, the unveiling of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him.
° God gave it to Jesus
° It might come as a shock at first when you read "to shew his servants thing which must shortly come to pass"
° Remember in Mark 13:32, Jesus speaking, he says, MF-NCC
Mark 13:32 — But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
° And so at that time, there was something the Father had in his counsel that Jesus did not.
° And this book is the Father giving that to him, which is kind of crazy when you really think about it, but it's literally the Father explaining to the son all of these things that are coming, that are to come to pass
° So it's almost like a personal gift that we get to enjoy a gift from the fater to the son, and it is all to us MF-NCC
-
WORLD VIEW:
-
° It's interesting that the world has such a negative connotation with the word apocalypse
° When you think about that word and our culture, as a kid growing up, you just immediately think of fire, brimstone, doom, gloom, judgment, all of these thing which which we will see in the book later
° But all the word literally means is to unveil.
° See, the world is terrified about who is Jesus, really?
° You know, who he is?
° The world is terrified that we have an accountability to him that created us
° We are accountable to him
° If you come across people that really flee from Jesus, the root of the issue is they're fleeing accountability to him
° The don't want to be accountable, to be fallen and need a redeemer
° That's the bottom line of it all
° But it's just so interesting how the world has taken that word and twisted it into somehting that has an extremely negative connotation
° Think of all the culture in the movies, right?
° The apocalypse, the doom and gloom, the day after tomorrow
° You know, all these things, these judgments and crazy things happening in the world and it's just showing who is Jesus, the ultimate judge, king, and savior
° And he will rule and reign on this earth and we have an accountability to him.

BLESSING & SUPERNATURAL OUTLINE:
-
° This is the only book of the Bible that promises a blessing to anyone that reads it and those that hear it
° In verse 3 MF-NCC
Revelation 1:3 — Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein:
for the time is at hand.
° By going through this book, you are getting a blessing
° So claim that blessing as you read through this book
° One of the reasons why it has a blessing on it is because it will take you literally into every other book of the Bible if you study it correctly
° It's also the only book of the Bible that contains it own outline MF-NCC
Revelation 1:19 — Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
° Hereafter in the Greek is Meditata
° It's hereafter, after these things
° So, there are three groups, a supernatural outline
Hast Seen
° Chapter 1 is the things which thou hast seen
° It's the glorified ruling Jesus
° That's what John had seen
Things which are
° By that point, he saw Jesus for really who he is, being unveiled
° The glorified Jesus ruling the things which are the seven churches, chapter two and three, the church age
Things which shall be hereafter
° Chapter 4, all the way to the end, are the things which shall be hearafter, the church age
° With these three seperations in the book, the supernatural outline of the things which you saw glorified Jesus
° The things which are the seven letters to the seven churches
° The church age, which is right now, and the things which will be after the church age
° Chapter four, verse one, starts the rapture onward

THINGS CORRECTED:
-
° So four things in this book will be corrected that are out of place all through the Bible that are themes
The Church will be back
° We'll be back in our rightful home, which is heaven
° That's our eternal home
Israel will be back in its rightful home
° The land that God promised them in Genesis
° Jesus will be on his rightful throne, the throne of David
° That the throne that Gabriel promised yet again to Mary when before she was even pregnant
° It was a promise that Jesus gave, that God gave David all the way back in II Samuel
° Jesus will be on his rightful throne, no longer at the right hand of the father
° But on earth on his throne and all evil will be bound and ultimately in their rightful home, which is the lake of fire forever away from us

SEVENS IN REVELATION:
-
° This book is fully structured around the number seven
° The number seven is literally what God does on behalf of man
° Think of it as the number of completion
° So, if you study things carefully in the Bible, seven is always what the Lord does on behalf of man
° For example, Jesus bleed seven times in the Bible
° Just as a reference, sevens are all through the Bible
° But specifically in this book
° The very structure of the book is around seven groups of seven
° There are seven:
- Churches
- Seals
- Trumpets
- Personages
- Vials
- Bowls
- Dooms
- New Things
° There's seven groups of seven that the entire book itself is structured around
° This is not a complete list, but just to give you an idea of the supernatural nature of this book, there are seven:
- Candlesticks or lampstands
- Spirits
- Stars
- Lamps
- Title Pairs
Promises to the Overcomer
- Horns
- Eyes
- Angels
- Thunders
- Crowns
- Plagues
- Mountains
- Kings
- Years of Judgement
- I AMs by Jesus
- Doxologies in Heaven
- Again, Seven New Things
° That's not even a comprehensive list, that is just a handful
° There's a lot of subtle sevens all through the book
° But to get the point across, the idea of this supernaturally crafted book and how it's orchestrated that's deliberate by Jesus for us, and his fingerprints and the fingerprints of the Holy Spirit are
literally all over it
° Going more through the book, the praise even increases exponentially to seven times.
- In Chapter 1, there's Glory and Dominion
- In Chapter 4, there's Glory, Honor, and Power
- In Chapter 5, there's Blessing, Honor, Glory, and Power
- In Chapter 7, there's Blessing, Glory, Wisdom, Thanksgiving, Honor, Power, and Might
° So, even as you go through the book, it's continual praise of the Lord, getting higher, and higher, and higher, and higher until almost like a crescendo at the seven, there's seven praises and worships
° Holy, Holy, Holy in Chapter 4, Worthy Art Thou in Chapter 4, and five Unto Him That Sitteth
° In Chapter 5 there's Salvation Unto Our God
° In Chapter 7, Kingdoms of the World
° In Chapter 11 & 15, Great and Marvelous
° In Chapter 19, 4 Hallelujahs
° There are four Hallelujahs in this book
° If you read the rest of the Bible, there's 24 others elsewhere
° So you put them together, it's 28
° It's a multiple of seven, just in that regard
° So the entire Bible is just supernaturally orchestrated

REVELATION MODEL AFTER OLD TESTAMENT BOOKS:
-
Exodus
° Revelation is modeled after Exodus through seven elements.
-
There's Jacob's trouble, or affliction
- There's the cry to God being heard
- Remember, Israel crid out to the LORD, and he heard their crying, and he had Moses raised up to deliver them
-
God will command release
- In Exodus, God commanded the Israelites to be released
- In Revelation, he's commanding to be released from the Antichrist
-
There are two witnesses with miracles before the enemy
- Remember Aaron and Moses and their miracles
- In Revelation, God sends two witness who do miracles before the enemy
-
The enemy also performs miracles
- Remember, the Antichrist will come with all lines, signs, and wonders
-
In the Signs of Jesus return
- The Enemy also performs those same miracls
-
There's judgment from God
-
God will protect his people
Joshua
° Revelation is modeled after Joshua through seven elements.
-
When you get to Joshua in the Hebrew, it's Yahushua
- It's a variant of Yeshua of Jesus
- So you literally have the name of Jesus on an Old Testament book
- Should make you pause for a minute and just think, wow, that should relate to our king somehow
- And it does in a strking way
- Yehoshua and Joshua and Jesus
- Same names, in Hebrew, it's a variant form
-
Joshua is a military commander, taking the land back from the invaders
- Just like we're going to see Jesus do in Revelation
- He's taking the land back from the invaders
-
There's a seven year campaign against seven nations out of an original ten
- We're going to see that from Daniel
- Remember, the ten horns rise up, three are put down, so there's seven left
- Same thing in Joshua MF-NCC
